Feature #2
Here we go, my second feature! Woo:
Fifth Place

Fifth place goes to mrhenrik for "Impatient." This is a wonder photograph with great color and texture. And yes, the dog does quite impatient. My favorite part is definitely how the dog is off center while the rest of the photo is very center. Asymmetry/symmetry is an important element of design and this shows if the juxtaposition very well.
Fourth Place

I don't even want to image how much work went into "Deconstruct" by Mindstateart. This piece is quite impressive to me. It uses a mixture of wireframe and full 3D render to make an interesting effect. To me it really looks like 3D graffiti which is very cool. The colors are also bright but not distracting. What actually suprised me a bit is how little Mindstateart has in his Gallery. Hopefully he'll be adding more soon.
Third Place

I'm not even sure what to say about Mr Evil by HerEvilGothMajesty. It is an A class render, although a very much exaggerated one. The scary thing is that Jack Nicholson actually kinda looks like that (I'm not sure if anyone has seen him lately but he's as old and creepy looking as ever.) Really, though, I have done pencil drawings before and completely understand how hard they are. HerEvilGothMajesty has got some skills and I really hope she continues drawing.
Second Place

moopf is one of the most unique artists I've seen in a while. He really reminds me of some of the folk artists here in Florida you see while driving down some highways or through Plant City. The Dreamer is definitely one of my favorites. The painting is very clean with tight lines and sharp edges but at the same time it is giving off a feeling of freeness. The character has a open look on its face and the wonderful "Dream" lettering over top perfectly conveys the message. Seriously, though, take a look at moopf's other stuff. He deserves the credit.
First Place

I have a feeling people might not agree with me on this one. Commonly, digital arts and photography have been shunned from popular art. Not necessarily on dA (since dA seems to have an endless amount of very talented photographers) but out in the real world of art shows and galleries photography and graphic arts almost never gets any credit. That's not to say I picked Up Up and Away by alyhazzaa because of this reason. No, it's because it is a beautiful photo.
The colors are what first made me dive in and the texture and line are what dragged me deeper. It really makes me wish I was there standing next to her looking at the same roof because it must've looked amazing in real life. I love this photograph and sure, it might not require the "technical" aspect of drawing but to catch something that beautiful and divine is truly a skill to be reckoned with. Keep of the great work alyhazzaa and congratulations on getting first place!
